The Saudi Clinical Trials Enterprise

SCTE is a first-of-its-kind network dedicated to building and enhancing clinical trials capacities and capabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through education, training, raising public awareness about the importance of clinical trials, involving partners and volunteers as well as medical and research communities, and lastly, attracting pharmaceutical industry investments.

This Clinical Trials National Initiative is sponsored by the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), one of the largest programs to achieve The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by providing support to a variety of industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and includes a number of national academic and government stakeholders as well as international academic, government and industrial partners.

Saudi Clinical Trial Enterprise is managed by King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) at the Ministry of National Guard Health affairs (MNG-HA) in collaboration with a number of national key stakeholders from academia, government, and the industry as well as international partners. KAIMRC had taken the opportunity to contribute to the country’s knowledge-economy in particular through conducting high standards of R&D and Innovation in the fields of biomedical and clinical research.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Health

Raising health quality and increasing the efficiency of communication related to clinical trials between health institutions and individuals inside and outside the Kingdom.

Economy

Supporting the kingdom’s economic diversification by attracting international pharmaceutical companies to invest, create more jobs, and contribute to knowledge transfer to the kingdom.

Society

The initiative will raise awareness of the importance of participating in clinical research/trials and the impact of its results on the overall health of communities.

Establishing a national network to help manage and coordinate clinical trials and acts as a key link among national stakeholders and international partners.

Establishing effective strategic partnerships with a number of internal and external academic, governmental and industrial institutions running and/or sponsoring clinical trials.
